Letter to Europarlament

Letter to Europarlament

Dear …….

At this time of absolute uncertainty, we should not despair but we should act in solidarity driven by our commitment to the employees and entrepreneurs that form the MICE industry in Europe.
Our sector specializes in creating business opportunities by building human connections and expanding markets. And by creating new connections across borders, we should face this tremendous challenge of global pandemia.

Our sector employs hundreds of thousands of people and generates over $800 billions globally. We are observing with concern the spread of coronavirus in Europe and the containment measures introduced by the states. SARS-CoV-2 virus infects not only other members of our community, but also the overall economy and our businesses in particular. Due to the nature of our industry that relies heavily on direct meetings and gatherings, our sector is in total shutdown now. As the states introduced measures to fight the pandemia, we are unable to operate. For months now we have experienced cancellations and we suspect that months after the immediate crisis ends, we won’t be able to bounce back, as our clients will be still overly cautious about in person and group interactions.

We want to take an active and resourceful approach to the current events as well as to the challenges that are ahead of us when this all ends.

We propose to advocate for:

●  the joint European action and plan that reflects the interests and needs of the MICE industry,

●  the presence of the MICE sector representative at the European Union level consultations that will

bring solutions tailored to our interests and needs.

We would like to be heard and visible at any European forums where decisions, plans or programs are being taken if they can affect us as the MICE sector, as European citizens and business owners that still wish to contribute to the EU economy.

We would like to ask you

●  to sign an open letter manifesto that lays out our interest statement, included in this correspondence

●  to indicate your candidate for the MICE representative at the European Travel Commission

Kindest regards,
